Houston police searching for driver who left scene of fatal crash
HOUSTON, TX – Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene of a fatal crash in northeast Houston on Saturday morning.
According to a press release from the Houston Police Department, officers responded to the area of 7300 Clinton Drive after being notified of the accident by Galena Park police at about 3:10 a.m.
Authorities said a Galena Park police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Clinton Drive when he observed a gray Infiniti speeding. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed.
The officer lost sight of the suspect vehicle but then came upon the car after it had crashed. A male passenger in the Infiniti was pronounced dead at the scene. The person’s identity was not immediately released.
Police said the driver fled the scene on foot and remains at large as the investigation continues.
