HPD investigates fatal wrong-way crash on Tidwell Rd in NE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 46-year-old man died early Sunday, June 11, after a wrong-way crash in northeast Houston that injured two others, including a teenager, according to the Houston Police Department.

The department’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal collision occurred at 7700 Tidwell Road at around 1:55 a.m.

Preliminary details show a 50-year-old woman was driving a red Ford Explorer east in the eastbound lanes with one passenger, a 17-year-old boy. At one point, the front of the Explorer was hit by a blue Chevrolet Impala traveling west in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the Impala was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.

The driver of the Explorer and the teen passenger, who both suffered minor injuries, were taken to a local hospital.

Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
