HPD officer who fatally struck woman in northwest Houston back on duty

HOUSTON, TX – The HPD officer who hit and killed a woman on Antoine Dr near Pinemont Dr on Sept. 19 is back on duty, according to Click 2 Houston.

Officer Shelby Kennedy was heading north on Antoine Dr. when she approached a group of people standing in the road around 9:50 a.m. Everyone but Desire Pool, 41, was able to jump out of the way of the patrol cruiser.

Following the collision, Officer Kennedy called for an ambulance while her partner, Officer Joshua Rosales, exited the vehicle and performed CPR on Pool.

Paramedics transported Pool to an area hospital, where she died.

A preliminary investigation determined Kennedy was not speeding and that Pool failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle.
