Mail truck, pickup collide in Kountze, killing postal worker

KOUNTZE, TX – A 26-year-old postal worker died Tuesday in a two-vehicle collision along the highway in Hardin County, reports 12 News Now.

Around 4:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a major accident at TX-327 and North Highway 69 in the city of Kountze, which is about an hour and a half northeast of Houston.

Police say that a westbound mail truck collided with a northbound Ford F-350 when the driver of the mail truck failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection.

The postal worker, since identified as Chace Soignet of Warren, died after transport to an area hospital.

Four people from the Ford, including one teen, went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
