Man, 47, killed by hit-and-run driver on Southwest Fwy near Westwood
HOUSTON, TX – A 47-year-old man died late last Friday, August 23, after being hit by a vehicle on the Southwest Freeway near the city’s Westwood area, according to the Houston Police Department.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the incident occurred in the 10500 block of the freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) at around 11:05 p.m.
Investigators say the male pedestrian was struck by a northbound vehicle, the make and model of which were not immediately clear, as its driver fled the scene, failing to stop and render aid.
The victim was pronounced deceased by paramedics with the Houston Fire Department.
The HPD Hit and Run Unit continues to investigate the fatal crash. At this time, officials have not been able to release a description of the suspect or fleeing vehicle.
