Man, 51, killed after SUV crashes into pond in Spring

SPRING, TX – A 51-year-old man died after he crashed his SUV into a retention pond in Spring on Sunday, ABC13 said.

The incident happened on the 6000 block of the North Grand Parkway West. The 51-year-old man, later identified as Joseph Mariano, was driving a Nissan Rogue on the westbound lane and drifted out of his lane and onto the shoulder. The vehicle became airborne and crashed into a pond near the Amazon facility.

Authorities rescued Mariano from the water, conducted CPR on him, and transported him to a hospital, where he later died.

Officials closed Grand Parkway for on-scene investigation purposes.
