Man charged for fatal DUI crash on Sheldon Rd in Sheldon
SHELDON, TX – Authorities have arrested a man for a deadly DUI crash that occurred on Sheldon Rd near the Crosby Fwy on Monday, according to KHOU.
Joaquin Compean-Juarez, 49, was driving a Ford F-150 west on the Crosby Fwy when he strayed off the road, went down an embankment, and onto the northbound lanes of Sheldon Rd, where he hit a Ford Fiest operated by Sebastian Benitez Mendoza.
Benitez-Mendoza was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Paramedics transported Mendoza to an area hospital, where he died.
Deputies determined that Compean-Juarez displayed signs of impairment. He has two prior convictions for DWI.
Authorities charged Compean-Juarez with felony murder.
