Man dies after car rear-ends SUV on Broadway St in SE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A 49-year-old man died early Monday evening after a two-vehicle crash in southeast Houston’s Park Place area, according to the Houston Police Department.
The collision occurred in the 4000 block of Broadway Street at around 5:15 p.m.
Officials with the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the man was behind the wheel of a silver Honda Pilot heading northbound on the road when he appeared to suffer a medical emergency. Shortly after, the Pilot hit the back of a red GMC Acadia SUV that was stopped at the red light at the Gulf Freeway service road intersection.
The driver of the striking vehicle was rushed to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
No injuries to the driver of the GMC were reported.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the wreck.
