Man dies after June crash involving garbage truck in Friendswood

GALVESTON COUNTY, TX — A 69-year-old man has died nearly two months after a crash involving a garbage truck near an apartment complex in Friendswood, reports the Houston Police Department.

The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the accident occurred at Villas at El Dorado, located at 220 West El Dorado Boulevard, on Friday, June 16, at about 10:25 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man was operating a garbage truck southbound in the nearby parking lot when he appeared to suffer a medical episode. Shortly after, he crashed the truck into a brick parking structure.

Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department transported the victim to UTMB Health Clear Lake Campus Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. On Thursday, August 10, doctors pronounced him deceased.

No other information has been made available at this time. Authorities continue to investigate.
