Man dies week after being hit by vehicle in Houston’s Mid-West area
HOUSTON, TX — A 59-year-old man has died following a pedestrian crash last week in west Houston that left him critically injured, according to the Houston Police Department.
The incident took place at 9700 Richmond Avenue, in the city’s Mid-West area, at around 7:40 p.m.
Investigators say the man was trying to cross the westbound lanes outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a silver Infiniti G35.
Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department rushed the male pedestrian to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
The HPD confirmed that doctors pronounced the victim deceased on Tuesday, October 31, seven days later.
Authorities said the driver, a 69-year-old man, stayed at the scene following the crash and was determined to not be intoxicated. He was released from the scene after questioning.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate.
