Man fatally hit by vehicle on Westheimer Rd in west Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A man died late Monday following a pedestrian crash late Monday night in Houston’s Mid-West area, according to ABC13.
Houston Police said the fatal incident occurred in the 5800 block of Westheimer Road, near Fountain View Drive, shortly before 11:00 p.m.
Preliminary details show the male pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk when he ran across the main lanes of the roadway and was hit by an unspecified vehicle.
The driver, who stopped immediately after the crash, tried to assist the pedestrian before paramedics responded to the scene. HPD officials confirmed the pedestrian ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
An investigation remains underway, but impairment on the driver’s part is not believed to be a contributing factor. Investigators were working to obtain nearby surveillance footage.
