Man killed, driver arrested after Porter pedestrian hit-and-run crash

PORTER, TX – A pedestrian died on Wednesday after a driver struck them and then fled the scene along U.S. 59 in Porter, reports Click2Houston.

Splendora police responded to the scene near the 15000 block of U.S. 59 on May 7. Officials say they found the pedestrian, identified as Gary Belvin, near the roadway. Medical personnel confirmed that he had died on location.

Early details suggested that a motorist had struck Belvin before leaving the scene. Splendora police asked Montgomery County sheriff’s investigators for help with the case. Detectives later identified 35-year-old Jeremy Michael Buckner of Porter in connection with the collision.

Authorities arrested Buckner on Saturday, May 9. He now faces second-degree felony charges related to leaving the scene of a crash involving injury or death. Officials booked Buckner into the Montgomery County Jail after the arrest.
