Man killed in rush-hour crash along SW Fwy service road

HOUSTON, TX – A 48-year-old man died Friday morning in a single-vehicle collision in central Houston, reports MyTexasDaily.

Shortly before 7:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a fatal accident on the westbound frontage road of the Southwest Freeway. This is just northwest of Rice University and south of Levy Park.

Police aren’t yet sure what caused the driver of a westbound Buick Century to leave the roadway. The vehicle impacted with a fire hydrant and a sign.

The driver, whose name has not yet been released to the public, succumbed to his injuries after transport to an area hospital.

There were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Motorists likely experienced delays along the westbound frontage road of the Southwest Freeway while teams worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
