Man succumbs to injuries suffered in NW Houston pedestrian crash, hit-and-run driver sought

HOUSTON, TX — A hit-and-run pedestrian crash that occurred Tuesday, December 23, in northwest Houston has claimed the life of a 70-year-old man, according to the Houston Police Department.

The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the incident was reported at 2700 Gessner Road, at around 6:55 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate the male pedestrian was not in a designated crosswalk when he tried to cross the roadway. Moments later, he was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid or call 911.

The victim, who suffered critical injuries in the crash, was transported to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center. HPD officials said they learned on Friday, January 5, that the man had been pronounced deceased.

As authorities continue to investigate, anyone who may have relevant information about the driver or the vehicle is encouraged to reach out to the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072. Crime Stoppers can also be contacted at 713-222-TIPS.
