Mother and son killed in collision involving Missouri City police officer

MISSOURI CITY, TX – According to KTRK, a Missouri City police officer collided with another vehicle, killing a mother and her son, near the Dollar Tree at 1681 Cartwright Rd on Thursday.

The officer was responding to a robbery at an ATM around 8:42 p.m. when he T-boned a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old male as he was pulling out of the Dollar Tree Parking Lot.

Rescue crews pronounced the 16-year-old and his mother, Angela Stewart, 53, dead at the scene.

Hours after the collision, crews discovered a person in the back of the police cruiser, Crews transported the person in the cruiser to Ben Taub Hospital and took the officer to Texas Medical Center.

Police are looking into whether the officer had his lights and sirens activated at the time of the accident.
