Motorcyclist dies following crash with pickup truck on Almeda Rd in SW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 32-year-old man was fatally injured last Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck that was leaving a SW Houston business, reports the Houston Police Department.

The incident unfolded in the 13400 block of Almeda Road, near West Fuqua Street/Almeda Genoa Road, on January 6 at about 8:35 p.m.

A preliminary investigation by the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division found that the victim was driving a gray Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle southbound on Almeda Road. A red Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck was exiting a nearby business when it was struck by the motorcycle.

The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department.

No injuries to the pickup driver, a 73-year-old man, were reported. He was released from the scene after authorities determined he was not impaired.

Authorities continue to investigate.
