Motorcyclist dies following hit-and-run crash in northwest Houston
HOUSTON, TX – A motorcyclist died in a hit-and-run collision near 14000 Northwest Freeway on Saturday, according to Click 2 Houston.
Yeriel Rodriguez Mercado, 19, was riding a green Kawasaki motorcycle west on Northwest Fwy at high speeds while weaving in and out of traffic when he hit a white Nissan Murano around 11 p.m. The collision ejected Mercado from the bike. The driver of a white Jeep then struck Mercado as he was trying to stand up.
Following the collision, the Jeep driver fled the scene.
Rescue crews pronounced Mercado dead at the scene
Authorities determined the 20-year-old woman driving the Murano was sober and released her.
