Motorcyclist killed in crash with pickup truck on Katy Fwy near Memorial Park
HOUSTON, TX — A young man died early Wednesday after his motorcycle rear-ended another vehicle on the Katy Freeway in northwest Houston, according to ABC13.
The collision occurred on a span of the freeway (Interstate 10) near Exit 764 to Washington Avenue and Westcott Street, near Memorial Park. It was first reported at around 1:30 a.m.
Witnesses told authorities the young man and another person were operating motorcycles at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic. At one point, the decedent’s motorcycle rear-ended a pickup truck with a force that sent the pickup into the barrier wall.
The operator of the striking motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.
No other major injuries have been reported, but investigators say they are searching for the other speeding motorcyclist who was traveling alongside the victim.
