Off-duty deputy injured in attempted freeway takeover on Hardy Toll Rd
HOUSTON, TX – An off-duty deputy was injured in a crash on the Hardy Toll Rd near Airtex Dr on Sunday, according to KTRK.
A group of motorcyclists were trying to take over the road in the southbound lanes around 11:20 a.m.
The deputy was heading north and tried to avoid hitting the motorcyclists when he slammed into a wall and went over it.
One motorcyclist and another driver were also injured in the collision. Paramedics transported all three victims to area hospitals. The deputy was admitted in serious condition. The condition of the other two vehicles is unclear.
Following the crash, crews shut down the area so authorities could investigate the wreck.
Authorities are working with the DA’s office to file charges.
Officials have not released the deputy’s name.
