Officials close Hardy Toll Road due to big rig collision

HOUSTON, TX – Officials shut down the majority of Hardy Toll Road near South Hardy Toll Plaza due to a double big rig collision on Tuesday.

Harris County ESD 17 told Fox16Houston that one of the trucks overturned and struck an active Union Pacific Railroad track. Authorities closed the southbound lanes of travel starting at Aldine Bender and then by 10:45 p.m., opened the majority of lanes except for the right lane and shoulder to accommodate the on-scene clean-up process.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
