Officials release more info concerning deadly wrong-way crash on I-45
HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Police Department has released additional details on the fatal wrong-way collision that occurred on I-45 southbound near Memorial Drive Monday morning.
Michael Anthony Arguijo, 46, was driving a red Ford F-150 north in the southbound lanes of I-45 when he collided with a northbound Mitsubishi Outlander around 12:45 a.m. The outlander then hit a southbound Nissan Rogue.
First responders transported the female driver, an adult male, and two children from the Mitsubishi to an area hospital, where the 35-year-old female driver and her 9-year-old son died. The 10-year-old girl and the adult man remain in critical condition.
Paramedics also transported Arguijo, the female driver of the Nissan, and her adult male passenger to area hospitals. Aruijo was admitted in critical condition. The man and woman from the Nissan suffered minor injuries.
Authorities charged Aruijo with two counts of intoxication manslaughter in the 176th State District Court.
