One dead in late-night Bastrop Hwy pedestrian accident

AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian died last night after being struck by a vehicle near Bastrop Highway, according to the official Twitter account of the Austin-Travis County EMS.

The accident happened at 11:34 p.m. in the 900 block of the Bastrop Highway service road.

Emergency officials performed CPR on the victim, but their efforts were in vain. The adult victim, who has not been publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash just before midnight.

Authorities advised motorists to avoid the area, as they expected delays due to the investigation and cleanup of the scene.

The circumstances of the collision have not been made available at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
