Passenger dies after crash off N Sam Houston Pkwy E in NE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — One person died last Friday, April 28, after a two-vehicle crash on the North Sam Houston Parkway East service road in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Authorities said the fatal collision occurred at 6196 North Sam Houston Parkway East service road at around 3:20 p.m.
An early investigation shows a white Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck was traveling eastbound when it neared the Eastex Freeway (North Interstate Highway 59) service road intersection. A driver in a white Chevrolet Cruz heading southbound on the Eastex Freeway service road failed to stop at a red light at the intersection. Shortly after, the Chevrolet was hit by the Dodge.
A passenger in the Chevrolet died from their injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.
Both drivers and a 2-year-old toddler in the Dodge were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate, but neither driver was found to be have been impaired at the time of the wreck. At this time, no charges have been filed.
