Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run crash at west Houston intersection
HOUSTON, TX — A 35-year-old man was fatally injured last Sunday, July 30, when he was hit by a vehicle in west Houston while working a food delivery job, reports KHOU.
Houston Police said the incident took place at the intersection of Fountain View Drive and Inwood Drive.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim, Eric Rye, was making a delivery for DoorDash when he was struck by a vehicle whose driver failed to stop and render aid.
Nearby residents reportedly discovered the Rye seriously injured after hearing noise outside. His mother, Lisa Rye, noted that “tire marks and some road rash” were observed on his body.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital where he was later died from internal injuries.
An investigation and search for the hit-and-run suspect remains underway. As of Sunday, authorities have not released a description of the vehicle or suspect.
