Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run crash on E Mount Houston Rd in NE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A male pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene in northeast Houston late Sunday morning, reports the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred in the 4400 block of East Mount Houston Road at around 11:56 a.m.
HCSO officials say the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was standing, walking or running along the roadway’s north side, in the grassy area. At one point, an unknown vehicle traveling in a west generation within the far left lane veered off the roadway and hit the male pedestrian with its front-right side.
By the time first responders arrived on the scene, the driver had already fled.
Authorities noted that the victim, who was found without signs of life in an area of the crash with no sidewalk, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The HCSO Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate.
