Pedestrian dies following hit-and-run crash in Houston’s Greater Fifth Ward

HOUSTON, TX — A 53-year-old woman died last Sunday, December 3, following a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Gregg Street, northeast of downtown Houston, reports the Houston Police Department.

The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the incident occurred in the 1400 block of the road at around 5:55 p.m.

An early investigation shows the woman was crossing Gregg Street on foot and was outside of a designated crosswalk when she was struck by a driver in an unspecified white sedan. The driver failed to stop and render aid, leaving the scene in the car before first responders arrived.

The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene by responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department.

Anyone who may have information about the fleeing driver is encouraged to call the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072. Crime Stoppers can be reached anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.
