Pedestrian hit, killed by SUV on I-610 EB near Northside Village
HOUSTON, TX — One person died early Monday following a pedestrian crash on Interstate 610 in Houston’s north side, according to Click2Houston.
The fatal incident unfolded on the eastbound lanes (North Loop East Freeway) at Hardy Road, in the city’s Northside Village area. Houston Police were dispatched to the scene just after 3:30 a.m.
Officials say the pedestrian, whose identity remains undisclosed, was hit by a driver in a Hummer H3 in the freeway’s main lanes.
First responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
No pending charges have been reported at this time, but the driver immediately stopped after his vehicle hit the victim and alerted authorities. He cooperated with an investigation at the scene.
A section of eastbound I-610 between I-45 and Hardy Road was closed for about two hours during the emergency response.
