Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle on East Fwy in Northshore area

HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle on the East Freeway in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The fatal incident took place in the 10200 block of the freeway’s (East Interstate Highway 10) service road, in the city’s Northshore area. It was first reported at around 5:15 a.m.

Investigators with the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said a male pedestrian appeared to have been lying in the roadway. He was hit by a westbound gray Honda CRV, which was traveling on a green light at the intersection with Mercury Drive.

Responding paramedics confirmed the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, who remained after the crash, cooperated with an investigation and was released from the scene. She has not been charged as of this writing.
