Pedestrian killed in crash while crossing highway near Golfcrest

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian died after a vehicle struck them early Tuesday on South Loop East near Golfcrest Boulevard, reports Click2Houston.

Houston police report that the incident happened around midnight. They say the person was trying to cross the roadway prior to the impact. They also report that the motorist failed to avoid the collision despite attempting to swerve away.

Authorities have not released the pedestrian’s identity. The driver is unlikely to face charges.

Following the crash, officials closed the roadway until around 5 a.m.
