Pedestrian killed on Austin airport runway identified

AUSTIN, TX – A man that was struck and killed by an airplane while it was landing on ABIA runway of Austin Bergstrom International Airport last week on Thursday night has been identified, KXAN reports.

Authorities say that the victim was 22-year-old Junin Ko who pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m. at the scene.

KXAN had previously reported that the Southwest Flight 1392 crew had reported seeing an individual on the runway as they were landing at 8:12 p.m. to the air traffic control tower.

Ko was not an airport employee and it remains unclear how he got on the runway.
