Pickup and sedan collide on Independence in La Porte, killing 1
LA PORTE, TX – A fatality has been reported in connection to a two-vehicle collision along a major roadway in southeast Harris County, reports abc 13.
Around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, emergency teams responded to Independence Parkway South near Miller Cut Off Road in La Porte. This is just northeast of Deer Park and approximately 26 miles southeast of Houston.
Police say that a white pickup truck crashed into a sedan when the driver of the latter vehicle attempted an illegal U-turn in front of the pickup on Independence.
The driver of the sedan, who has not yet been named by authorities, died at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck did not sustain injuries in the crash.
Motorists likely experienced delays along Independence Parkway South while crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
