Pickup collides with cruiser on I-45 ramp, injuring HPD officer
HOUSTON, TX – An alleged drunk driver caused an accident on the freeway that injured a Houston police officer this weekend, Fox 26 Houston.
The collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of I-45 and West Road near West Road Plaza and Aldine High School on the north side of the city.
Officials say that a reckless driver crashed his pickup truck into a police cruiser that was stopped on the ramp to I-45 near the site of a prior accident.
Medics transported the police officer to an area hospital with unknown injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Authorities arrested the driver of the pickup truck on the suspicion of intoxication.
No other injuries were reported in connection to the crash.
