Police arrest driver for fatal DUI crash on Bauman Road
HOUSTON, TX – Authorities have arrested a man for a deadly DUI crash on the 10500 block of Bauman Road Saturday night, according to the Houston Police Department.
Jose Manuel Villegas Umanzor, 20, was allegedly impaired as he was driving a gray Infiniti G37 north on Bauman Road at a high rate of speed when he slammed into the back of a Chevrolet Lumina around 11:20 p.m.
The collision sent the Chevrolet crashing into a ditch. Villegas Umanzor then slammed into a parked vehicle.
First responders transported the Chevrolet driver to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Villegas Umanzor and his 65-year-old male passenger were hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities determined Villegas Umanzor was impaired and charged him with intoxication manslaughter.
Officials have not released the name of the deceased victim.
The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident.
