Rear-end crash on SE Houston freeway underpass claims woman’s life
HOUSTON, TX — A woman was fatally injured early Thursday when a vehicle slammed into the back of her car at high speed in southeast Houston, according to ABC13.
The wreck took place on the Interstate 45 Gulf Freeway underpass at Airport Boulevard, east of William P. Hobby Airport.
A preliminary investigation shows the woman was stopped at the intersection, waiting for the green light, when another vehicle rear-ended her car at a high rate of speed. Both vehicles were thrown past the intersection in the impact.
First responders pronounced the victim driver deceased at the scene, confirmed officials. No one else was traveling with her at the time of the crash.
The suspect driver, who is expected to survive their injuries, was transported to an area hospital.
At this time, an investigation remains open and ongoing. It’s not yet clear whether alcohol played a part in the fatal collision.
