Semi rollover with hazmat spill blocks TX-288 SB in Manvel
MANVEL, TX – A semi accident involving a hazmat spill closed multiple lanes of the highway in north-central Brazoria County Wednesday night.
According to KHOU 11, the incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on the southbound side of TX-288 at TX-6 in Manvel, which is around 24 miles south of Houston.
Police say that for unknown reasons, an 18-wheeler carrying groceries overturned along the highway. The impact of the crash caused the semi’s diesel engine to leak fuel into the roadway.
No injuries have been reported in connection to the accident thus far.
Officials closed the southbound feeder road on TX-288 along with one travel lane of southbound TX-288 while crews worked to clean up the spill and clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
