Semi-truck strikes, kills man on I-610 near Clinton Dr
HOUSTON, TX – A truck driver sustained fatal injuries Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident along the interstate in east Houston.
According to abc 13, the incident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. on the southbound side of I-610 near Clinton Drive, just north of Buffalo Bayou and the Port of Houston main truck entry.
Police say that a truck driver pulled over to shoulder after experiencing mechanical issues with the semi. While investigating the issue, the 18-wheeler rolled backwards, hitting the driver and killing him at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim.
Officials closed the southbound side of I-610 in the area of the crash until after 9:30 a.m. while emergency teams worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
