Speeding driver fatally collides with tow truck on the Westpark Tollway in Houston
HOUSTON, TX – One woman died and two others were hurt when a driver slammed into the back of a tow truck at high speeds on the Westpark Tollway near South Gessner Road early Tuesday morning, according to KHOU.
Two drivers were racing around 3 a.m. when one of them plowed into the rear of a tow truck that had entered the intersection after the light turned green. The impact totaled the tow truck and sent it through the intersection.
The speeding vehicle was occupied by three people. First responders transported all three to an area hospital, where the female rear-seat passenger was pronounced dead. The driver is in critical condition. The front seat passenger is in stable condition.
Crews evaluated the two people in the tow truck and released them.
The Houston Police Department is investigating the incident.
