Suspected DUI crash on Gulf Fwy. kills 1, injures 2

HOUSTON, TX – One person was killed and two others were sent to the hospital following a 3-vehilce crash involving a suspected drunk driver in North Houston early Sunday.

According to a report by Fox 26, officers responded to the scene at about 2:30 a.m. in the 13900 block of I-45, just south of the beltway.

Police say the driver of a GMC Suburban was heading south on the freeway when it collided with a Chevrolet Equinox. The impact caused the Equinox to spin out, and the Suburban to collide with a nearby pickup truck.

The driver of the Equinox was pronounced dead at the scene. Their passenger was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Suburban was also taken to the hospital.

The drivers of the Suburban and the pickup truck were each detained. Officers say the pickup’s driver may have been intoxicated when the crash occurred.

It is unclear if any charges will be filed in connection to the deadly crash.
