Tragic auto-pedestrian accident on East Freeway involves young woman

HOUSTON, TX- A 28 year-old woman was fatally struck by multiple vehicles as she ran on East Freeway on March 20th, the HPD reports.

After initial inspection into the accident, authorities were told that the woman arrived on the East Freeway through a ride-and-share service. The driver reported to authorities that she had attempted to exit the vehicle while it was still in motion so the car was then parked on the side of the freeway. While parked, the woman slid out through a window as the doors had been locked by the driver. This all occurred right before the woman was hit around 12:15p.m. This same driver also claimed he could no longer see the victim when she was hit.

The first driver who hit the woman was operating a white Ford F-250 pickup truck. The woman was hit and killed at 8900 East Freeway. This driver stayed at the scene until authorities arrived and cooperated with their inquires. He was found to not be under any type of influence, such as alcohol or drugs.

The driver who stayed at the scene reported to law enforcement that other vehicles also hit the woman after he did, but that these drivers drove away after stopping briefly.

The identity of the victim has not been publicly confirmed yet, and the investigation is still open.
