Train strikes, cuts open 18-wheeler carrying concrete mixer in New Caney
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — An 18-wheeler hauling a concrete mixer was cut in half Thursday morning when it was hit by a train in New Caney, reports Click2Houston.
The incident took place on a stretch of railroad tracks along Loop 494, at around 8:00 a.m.
While it remains unclear at the this time what led up to the event, preliminary details indicate that trains running in the area typically travel at around 50 miles per hour.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials were at the scene, leaving the nearby intersection closed.
Click2Houston crews observed that one of the railway gates at the intersection appeared to be completely knocked down and wedged underneath the concrete mixer.
Authorities have not released any information regarding potential injuries.
An investigation remains ongoing.
