UPDATE: Serious injury pedestrian crash in Deer Park claims life of 17-year-old girl
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A 17-year-old girl who was struck by a DWI suspect Tuesday afternoon in Deer Park has succumbed to her injuries, according to ABC13.
First responders rushed to the scene of the crash at Georgia Avenue and Wildwood Drive, in the city’s Erin Glen area, shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Authorities said the teen, a student at Deer Park High School’s south campus, was walking home when she was hit by a pickup truck driven by a DWI suspect.
The victim was transported by Life Flight to an area hospital with serious injuries and was subsequently put on life support. Authorities have confirmed that she was pronounced deceased Thursday night.
The driver, a 55-year-old man, was arrested for DWI following the crash and has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter. Following the victim’s death, that charge could be upgraded.
