Vehicle hits power pole, downing lines across Westheimer Rd in west Houston
HOUSTON, TX — Authorities responded to a crash early Monday that left power lines hanging low across part of Westheimer Road in west Houston, according to ABC13.
The collision occurred near the intersection with East Rivercrest Drive at around 4:30 a.m.
Houston Police have not shared a possible cause of the wreck or what kind of vehicle was involved, but a power pole snapped in the impact.
All lanes between the 9700 to 9900 blocks of Westheimer Road were shut down in the immediate aftermath.
While authorities were allowing westbound vehicles to pass in the right lanes at around 7:00 a.m., Houston Police announced a full road closure just before 8:20 a.m. All motorists were asked to find alternate routes.
CenterPoint Energy had been made aware of the crash, but officials did not immediately say how much time it would take for crews to complete repairs and reopen the lanes.
No injuries have been reported as of this writing.
