Warrant reveals more info on deadly Downtown crash involving ex deputy constable
HOUSTON, TX – A search warrant has revealed additional details concerning a deadly Downtown wreck involving a Harris County deputy that occurred at Canal St and N Live Oak St on Aug. 24, according to KTRK.
Former Harris County Precinct 6 Deputy Constable Rigo Vivar was allegedly driving at around 80 mph in the wrong way when he collided with Ricky Resendez Jr., 28, around 1:30 p.m. Resendez Jr. died in the collision.
Vivar informed authorities he had activated his lights to get around traffic, but witnesses said they had not seen the lights. Vivar was operating his personal vehicle.
The warrant is to get the black box from Vivar’s vehicle, and it indicates that authorities are looking into charging Vivar with criminally negligent homicide or manslaughter.
