Woman dies after being hit by vehicle on Pershing St in SE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 43-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries early Sunday when she was hit by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene in southeast Houston’s South Park area, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident took place in the 5800 block of Pershing Street, at around 2:15 a.m.

Preliminary details show the victim was walking either on or near the sidewalk along the road. At one point, a westbound vehicle veered off the roadway and struck the woman before fleeing the scene without stopping to render aid.

Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department had the woman rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

At this time, authorities have not publicly identified the make or model of the fleeing vehicle, and no information about the hit-and-run suspect has been recovered.
