Woman dies after car hits pickup with dump truck bed on I-45 in north Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 34-year-old woman died last Thursday, August 24, after a rear-end collision on North Interstate Highway 45 in north Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal wreck occurred in the 3400 block of the highway (North Freeway), near Beltway 8, in the Greater Greenspoint area. It was first reported at about 1:15 a.m.

An early investigation found that the woman was driving a silver Toyota Camry northbound at a high rate of speed. At one point, she lost control of the Camry, which then collided with the back of a white Ford F-350 pickup truck with a dump truck bed, also traveling northbound. The impact of the crash then sent the Camry into a nearby wall.

Responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced the driver of the Camry deceased at the scene, confirmed officials. Her identity remains undisclosed at this time.

The 66-year-old driver of the pickup and his passengers, an unspecified number of adult males, were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Authorities continued to investigate the crash.
