Woman dies after rollover crash on Tidwell Rd in NE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A 79-year-old woman died late Sunday afternoon after a rollover wreck in Houston’s Eastex/Jensen area, according to the Houston Police Department.
The fatal accident occurred on at 3601 Tidwell Road, just east of the Eastex Freeway, at around 4:35 p.m.
Investigators said the woman was driving a tan Honda Accord southbound on the Eastex Freeway service road. At one point, she tried to make a U-turn while traveling at a high rate of speed, causing the Honda to hit a curb and a maroon Toyota Tacoma pickup truck heading eastbound on Tidwell Road. The contact with the pickup sent the Honda airborne, causing it to flip and strike a black Mercedes-Benz E-Class going eastbound on Tidwell Road.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department crews.
No injuries to the other drivers were reported.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate.
