Woman dies after solo-car crash on Abilene St in NE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A 41-year-old woman died early Saturday, July 1, after a wreck in northeast Houston’s Denver Harbor/Port Houston area, according to the Houston Police Department.
The fatal collision was reported in the 7500 block of Abilene Street, at around 3:10 a.m.
A preliminary investigation by HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division indicates Sandra Rodriguez was driving a black Lexus IS 300 when it was involved in a crash.
First responders arrived to find the victim ejected in a ditch near the crashed vehicle. Responding paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
Authorities said her passenger, a 46-year-old man, was uninjured in the crash. He was released from the scene after questioning.
The cause of the accident remains unclear at this time, but the HPD continues to investigate.
