Woman dies after vehicle strikes mailbox in Houston’s River Oaks
HOUSTON, TX — A woman was fatally injured early Monday due to a single-vehicle crash in west Houston’s River Oaks area, according to ABC13.
The fatal accident occurred in the 960 block of Kirby Drive, near Shepherd Drive, at around 1:56 a.m.
An early investigation by the Houston Police Department indicates the woman may have been driving at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her vehicle. Moments later, the vehicle veered past a median and struck a mailbox.
The female driver died as a result of injuries suffered in the wreck, confirmed officials.
Footage captured at the scene show the vehicle’s front-end significantly damaged.
The HPD has not said whether alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck. An investigation remains in progress.
