Woman fatally hit by vehicle on Yale St in Houston’s Greater Heights

HOUSTON, TX — A woman died late Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle in the Greater Heights neighborhood of northwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal incident occurred at 2800 Yale Street on May 30, at around 11:10 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate the victim, believed to be homeless and in her 50s or 60s, was initially in a raised median. She was either handling or in a wheelchair when she traveled into the roadway without yielding. Moments later, she was hit by white Nissan NV150 work van heading northbound.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities said the driver, a 41-year-old man, was not suspected of impairment. After cooperating with responding officers, he was released from the scene. No pending charges have been reported as of this writing.

An investigation remains underway.
