Wrong-way driver fatally collides with another vehicle near downtown Houston
HOUSTON, TX – According to Click 2 Houston, a wrong-way driver caused a crash that killed a mother and her 10-year-old on I-45 southbound near Memorial Drive on Monday morning.
A driver was heading north on southbound I-45 when they collided with two other vehicles around 1 a.m.
One of the vehicles involved in the wreck was occupied by a mother, father, 10-year-old boy, and a girl. First responders transported them to an area hospital, where the boy and mother died. The father and the girl remain in serious condition.
Crews also transported three others to the hospital. This included the wrong-way driver and two people from the third vehicle involved in the collision.
Authorities shut down the area to investigate the incident. The area was reopened around 5:45 a.m.
